Some strange alien creatures recently
visited us at
JPL. Using the latest in JPL Spy Camera Technology (tm), I
snapped these
pictures of their visit from a safe distance (of about 10 feet).
Since putting up a fence around JPL
to keep deer and other wildlife out, the result has been a wildlife
sanctuary that provides a safe area for all the deer and their offspring.
Outside the perimeter of the lab, bobcat and mountain lions have been
spotted occasionally. They have even been spotted on lab late at night...
looking for all of the deer I suspect.
A few months before this, we generally
see some very pregnant deer. This is then followed by a lot of little
ones roaming around starting in the month of May/June. I have personally
seen close to 30 deer at one time (including the young) in a single
grassy area on lab, usually around dusk.
